My Story
Hello, I'm Wendy Brown – a wife, mother, and proud grandmother of two wonderful boys. My professional journey has centred around community care, a realm that truly speaks to my heart. Starting off as a dedicated home carer, my path eventually led me to a fulfilling role within the NHS as a Rehab Practitioner back in 1997.
At the core of my role was facilitating rehabilitation – a combination of physiotherapy and occupational therapy – for patients striving to regain their independence in the comfort of their own homes. As the years unfolded, so did the scope of my responsibilities. While the administrative demands grew, unfortunately, patient interaction took a backseat.
During my visits, a recurring issue caught my attention: many patients were grappling with hearing difficulties caused by stubborn earwax build up. It was in September 2020 that I realised a significant change had occurred – local GPs had ceased offering wax removal services. Consequently, some of my patients had to endure weeks, even months, of discomfort before receiving the necessary treatment.
Understanding the profound impact of hearing loss on overall quality of life, social connections, and even the risk of falls, I had an epiphany. Ear wax removal held a world of promise. Months of intensive research and dedicated training courses culminated in the birth of my brainchild: Wendy Brown Ear Care Carlisle. Through this endeavour, I'm delighted to provide mobile appointments and clinic-based consultations.
Balancing my growing business with my ongoing role as a Rehab Practitioner was quite the juggling act. However, as my venture gained momentum, I faced a tough choice and decided to bid farewell to the NHS. The passion I hold for my new path is immeasurable. I pour my heart and soul into every aspect, ensuring that emergency appointments are available at a moment's notice. Connecting with people and being part of their journey to better ear and hearing health brings me an indescribable sense of fulfilment.
